The university's statewide network of Public Service Activities (PSA) conducts research and outreach programs to improve the quality of life for citizens in South Carolina. Clemson PSA resources from several units have been involved in all aspects of the SCMarketMaker website and related programs, including:
- Clemson Shrimp Fisheries Assistance Project
The South Carolina Shrimp Partnership is a collaborative effort by Clemson University and the state's commercial shrimping industry to provide immediate economic assistance to shrimpers and to create a sustainable shrimp industry in the region. The assistance program is made possible with grants from the National Marine Fisheries Services and from the U.S. Congress through efforts by Senator Fritz Hollings. These efforts involve partnerships with various groups to provide information and economic relief. - Clemson EDA University Center for Economic Development
The EDA University Center for Economic Development (UCED) was established in 2006 as a joint program of the Clemson University Regional Economic Development Research Laboratory (REDRL) and the Clemson Institute for Economic and Community Development (CIECD). The UCED's principal objective is to foster economic development in South Carolina by providing research and technical assistance to organizations and areas concerned with job and income creation.
The UCED is located in the Department of Applied Economics and Statistics, Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina. South Carolina USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) - http://www.sc.nrcs.usda.gov/
Since 1935, the Natural Resources Conservation Service (originally called the Soil Conservation Service) has provided leadership in a partnership effort to help America's private land owners and managers conserve their soil, water, and other natural resources.
Through our network of field offices in the Palmetto State, SC NRCS staff provides technical assistance to the state's landowners, farmers, communities, groups and other agencies to help them protect and conserve the state's natural resources including soil, water and wildlife habitat. SC NRCS employs many specialists--from soil scientists to wildlife biologists--to ensure the state's landowners have access to reliable and proven technical information. Technical assistance includes natural resource inventories and assessments, and assistance in developing and implementing conservation plans for private lands.
